Do You Need An Eyelash Grower?

Using Eyelash Grower Serum

Don’t you just think it’s so unfair that Great Uncle Fred has been blessed with those long, thick eyelashes that we would give our eye teeth for! However, everyone is different and if you lose your eyelashes either through pulling them, illness or accident then you are likely to want to find an eyelash grower that works, and fast.

First, a little about eyelash loss. One thing you should remember is that like the hair on your head, your eyelashes will fall out regularly but they will also replace themselves over four to eight weeks (longer if they have suffered a lot of damage). If you wear contact lenses eyelash loss will usually be greater. As people age, this process slows considerably and your eyelashes will never be as full as they were when you were younger. If you haven’t already tried an eyelash growth serum, then maybe this is a good time to do it.

Other things that affect eyelash growth apart from pulling them, is rubbing, curling, cleaning so you need to be careful and keep your eyelashes healthy. Those who suffer from an underperforming thyroid gland are also likely to lose small clumps of eyelashes.

There are a few things you can do and the most convenient is probably a really good mascara that is designed to lengthen and thicken the lashes you have. However, such mascaras can be harder to remove and make even more eyelashes fall out in the process. Therefore, greater care must be taken when cleaning the eyes. You could also use fake eyelashes but these need to be glued into place along the eyelash line so again, when you take them off there is a possibility that you may pull out your own eyelashes. Eyelash extensions can also be used and this is where individual lashes are glued next to your own. This process can be expensive and if your problem is habitual eyelash pulling, or eye rubbing, it may not solve your problem. You could also consider eyelash implants, but this isn’t for the faint hearted and is prohibitively expensive! I prefer to find out how to get long eyelashes naturally.

Now let’s look at eyelash grower serums. Such products normally include Bimatoprost or Latanoprost that of course are not so natural! They are safe to use providing you don’t over use the product in the belief that it may help the lashes grow even quicker. Applying the eyelash grower serum close to the root will see a difference in just two to four weeks on average.

Examples of an eyelash grower serum include Idol Lash, RapidLash and LiLash. Elsewhere on this site you will find eyelash grower reviews.

Important ….. If you live in the UK, we still recommend the following eyelash grower; Idol Lash or visit our UK site at www.eyelashgrower.co.uk for more information.

Eyelash Grower Reviews

January 24th, 2011

RapidLashRapidlash is perhaps one of the most popular and middle-of-the-road in terms of price of the available eyelash growers on the market, coming in around $30 for 0.1 ounce of serum depending on where you buy. This eyelash grower is well liked by users and is applied once a day like an eye liner. It does not contain methylchloroisothiazalinone or prostaglandin, but I have seen at least one report of skin colour changes around the eyes.

Like a lot of the other products, RapidLash say results are clinically proven but do not report this evidence on their web site. All they say is that 50 people were used and show pictures of some of their successes only. You should see results in 4-6 weeks in terms of volume and length. The RapidLash brochure can be downloaded by CLICKING HERE.

EnvydermThen we have Envyderm. This may seem expensive at first glance (you can usually find it around $55 for about 0.3 ounces) but it will last you around six months if used correctly. Although most eyelash growth serums will appear to darken your eyelashes, this seems more intense withEnvyderm. Again, this is applied like an eyeliner and users report fast results. However, it does not seem as popular as some of the other products and has fewer user reviews. Envyderm mention clinical trials with improvement of 25 to 72% in length but again, do not mention howthe study was conducted and what the overall results were. Envyderm does not contain methylchloroisothiazalinone or prostaglandin.

Envyderm report clinical trials, but do not say what they were, who were involved etc. They do say that users showed at least a 25% increase in length and some reported as much as 72%. This is a huge difference and I would like to know why as this seems impossible!

——————————————————————————————————————————————–

Ardell Ardell produce a brow and lash serum that is really cheap at around $5 for 0.25 ounces of product. However, this is a lash enhancer, not an eyelash grower. It is not applied as an eyeliner, but brushed onto the lashes with a wand like mascara.

The main function of Ardell Brow and Lash Accelerator is to repair weak and damaged lashes and condition them. This will give the appearance of fuller eyelashes but not necessarily increase the length. If this is all you need, try this cheaper option. It is difficult to find out much about this product, possibly because Ardell mainly produce false eyelashes.

Ardell does not contain methylchloroisothiazalinone or prostaglandin.

————————————————————————————————————————————————–

lilashLiLash is one of the more expensive coming in around $130 for 0.6 ounces of product. LiLash claims to be the best and fastest acting product that is less prone to produce any irritation. To be fair, I have found no evidence to support these claims. However, I have read reports of eye colour change. If you wear eyelash extensions, this is also claimed to be the best product to support them. LiLash does not contain methylchloroisothiazalinone or prostaglandin. A tube of LiLash will last you about 6 months, so it’s probably not that expensive as most tubes are smaller. It will also keep for a year opened and 2 years unopened so if you find a deal, go for it!

LiLash still remains very popular and providing you order direct from them, they do offer a 90 day guarantee. You can do this from their website at www.LiLash.com where you will also find more answers to your questions.  Although the price may look expensive initially, it will last quite a while and you do have a money-back guarantee. LiLash would be my second choice but really, there isn’t much between Idol Lash and Lilash IMHO.

Idol Lash Eyelash GrowerFinally, as well as LiLash, I’m a fan of Idol Lash. It worked for me and did not cause any irritation or colour changes. Idol Lash claims to be the least irritating of all eyelash grower products and to be safe for the most sensitive eyes. Clinical trials were carried out to test Idol Lash eyelash grower using a small panel of people aged between 24 and 82 years of age. The product was applied as per instructions and changes to eyelash length and volume were measured using SigmaScan software (automatic image scanning software). Results showed that eyelash density was increased by up to 82% in 2 to 4 weeks and a 25% increase in length.

If you use the Idol Lash website, you can get several offers when you order that makes it quite cheap to use. For example, buy two get one free.

This has turned into quite a long blog, hope you got to the end of it and found it useful in finding out which is the best eyelash grower for you.

How Long Does It Take For Eyelashes To Grow Back?

July 25th, 2011

When someone loses their eyelashes, one of the first things they may ask is “how long does it take for eyelashes to grow back?” Naturally, this is a perfectly natural question irrespective of how you lost your lashes in the first place. A further query is often simply, “will they grow back”!

The answer to both these questions depends on the reason why you lost your lashes in the first place. Were they cut off or rubbed off, do you have a long or short term illness, did you singe them somehow, have you been using heated lash curlers? I’m sure there are more reasons, but that will do for starters as it will cover most people. If you are fit and healthy, the normal rate of growth is about half an inch every two months. However, unlike your head hair, your eyelashes do tend to drop out faster or you just wouldn’t be able to see!!

Thankfully, for most people it is just a case of how long does it take for eyelashes to grow back after a minor incident. However, for some it’s not as easy. For example, there are some illnesses that mean you are unlikely to have much in the way of eyelashes. Most notably is alopecia where the entire body is hairless (similar to the effects of chemotherapy). More specifically, trichotillomania is a form of alopecia where there is compulsive pulling of the hair leading to hair loss. Although this is most often associated with the scalp, the second most affected area is the eyelashes and brows. Reasons for most obsessive eyelash pulling are based on low self-esteem, stress, anxiety and depression. Therefore, until these psychological symptoms are treated, the hair pulling may continue and your eyelashes will not grow back properly.

If you have been unfortunate enough to have had chemotherapy treatment and have lost all the hair on your body, then the evidence seems to suggest that the hair on your body will return first, closely followed by eyelash and eyebrow regrowth. As a rule-of-thumb, this should happen within three months but in some instances, may not occur at the same rate as before.

Some thyroid conditions (such as hypothyroidism) affect hair growth, but once you start treatment for this, the growth should return to normal.

If you have been involved in an accident, even if it did not involve your eyes, the shock can stop eyelash growth for a while. However, a normal rate of growth returns when you recover. If you have singed your lashes, for example at a barbeque, you should see regrowth between 4 to 8 weeks. In the meantime, wear fake lashes but be very careful when removing them as to not pull out the lashes that remain.

If you don’t care for your eyes properly your eyelashes will suffer. Make sure you remove your make up daily and do this very gently. Don’t rub or pull at them either. You should also remember that the renewal process of the body becomes less efficient as we age, so if you are 50 rather than 20, the rate of growth will slow. You can of course speed things up a little by using a regrowth serum which really seems to help me personally.

Hopefully, when asking “how long does it take for eyelashes to grow back” you will realise it depends on how they were affected in the first place. Normal rate of eyelash and eyebrow regrowth is similar to that of your head hair.

Which Mascara Brush/Wand Should You Use?

April 9th, 2012

There is no doubt that a layer or two of mascara has a very dramatic effect on your eyes and overall appearance. If you are unsure just which mascara wand/brush you should use, maybe this brief article will help. Please note that the products exampled may not be available where you live – but I’m sure you can find an alterative!

* A mini wand such as the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara will be best used for lower lashes where a normal sized brush can be quite difficult.

* A smaller but normal length wand such as Rimmel’s Lash Accelerator will help to define and lengthen short lashes and reduce any clumping.

* Larger wands such as L’Oreal Lash Architect 4D will naturally hold more mascara and help to create thicker, fuller lashes.

* Use a curved brush such as the Loreal Lash Architect 3-D Dramatic Curved Brush Mascara to lift and curl the lashes and help your eyes have that ‘wide open’ look.

* Using a lash comb such as that found in Clinique’s Bottom Lash Mascara, will certainly help to define the lashes. However, it will also place more mascara closer to the eyeline but will allow more definition of the tips. This is great if you are fortunate enough to have long lashes.

A useful addition to your makeup kit is an eyelash comb to help disperse any clumps you may get from some mascara.

Make sure you replace your mascara every three months to avoid bacteria forming and any possible eye infections. If you use an eyelash curler, do make sure you use it prior to applying mascara as using it afterwards can damage or break the lashes.

As we age, our lashes tend to become more brittle so do use an eyelash conditioner such as Revitalash Eyelash Conditioner, to help keep them healthy and nourished. If you want to make them thicker and longer or to grow back damaged lashes, try an eyelash growth serum (e.g. Idol Lash) which will also have the advantage of conditioning your lashes too. You can find some eyelash grower reviews here. The downside is that in order to keep up the new appearance of your lashes, you will need to keep using it.

The Things We Do To Keep Beautiful – Eye Make Up Tips

March 27th, 2012

When it comes to looking and feeling amazing, everyone has their own ideas on just what constitutes ideal beauty. Fortunately, this selection of hand-picked beauty tips and tricks is sure to help you bring out the best in yourself and others. With these helpful hints, you are only moments away from looking and feeling your personal best.

You may not have the time to do a full makeup job on your eyes. Should this be the case, try a quick smudgy eye look by combining a small amount of lip balm and a small amount of either mascara or eyeliner on the tip of your finger. Rub to an even consistency, then rub across your eyelids as close to the lashes as you can. A smudgy look is what you’re going for. Add two coats of mascara, and you’re ready to go.

Consider using a purple eye shadow, rather than black or brown. Black and brown can be boring. Purple can really make your eyes pop. Purple eyeshadow is not as bold as you might think. From a distance, it will look like a black or a brown. Even so, it will give your eyes a little extra something.

Try as you may, sometimes you may find yourself in tears only minutes before you are scheduled to make an appearance or meet up with friends. To calm reddened, puffy eyes, apply a washcloth that has been soaked in cold water to your eyes – the colder the better. Rinse the cloth in the cold water, then repeat this step.

TIP! If the idea of applying strips of false lashes gives you cold feet, consider single lashes instead. These are considerably easier to apply and require only a small amount of eyelash glue, compared with the amount used for full lashes.

Be careful not to apply too much mascara to your eyes. Adding too much mascara can take away from the natural color of your eyes. Plus, too much mascara can make your eyelashes clumpy. Buy a mascara that is lighter in color if you have light colored eyes and dark mascara for darker eyes.

If you do not have a lot of time to spend on make up, you can still hide blemishes and dark spots. A concealer stick is a great way to cover up any spots or dark circles under your eyes. Put on powder over the concealer and you will look great by only spending a couple minutes of time.

Instead of applying false eyelashes that may fall off sometime during the day, use an eyelash curler. An eyelash curler will curl your lashes upwards and away from the eye, making your eyes appear bigger. Make sure you use the curler before applying mascara, or you’ll have to reapply it.

To keep from getting eye bags, drink plenty of water before you go to bed. One of the leading causes of eyebags is dehydration during the night. If you still have eye-bags when you wake up, rest cold, caffeinated teabags on your eyes for about 10 minutes. This will nourish your eyes and make the bags disappear.

TIP! Eyeshadows can be tricky for eyes over 40. Metallic, glittery shadows are beautiful, but eyelid skin develops tiny folds which are, unfortunately, accentuated by those gorgeous metallic colors.

Create the illusion of less deep-set eyes by using lightly colored eyeshadow to the entire eyelid. The light colors will appear to come forward, whereas a darker liner or shadow would have the reverse affect, making the eyes appear to recede further into the face. The color you apply should be light and very subtle.

The eyeshadow you use should depend on your eye color. By picking the wrong color, your eyes will not stand out. For example, those with blue and green eyes should pick shades that are warm in color such as light purples, brown, and gray. Women with brown eyes should wear darker shades, like dark greens and blues.

Regardless of who you are or what you believe, there is a good chance that you and many others can appreciate the advice in this article. Whether you are looking for a small way to enhance your natural beauty or hope to bring about major changes, the information you have just read is sure to provide a great starting point.

Ten Simple Ways to Get Beautiful Eyes

November 3rd, 2011

Revitol eye creamMost people try and make the most of themselves and the eyes are always a key element as this is where most people look when talking to each other. Here you will find ten great suggestions to how to make your eyes look their best.

1. Use a quality eye cream. There are many of these about and by quality, I don’t mean the most expensive. Just do your research and look for the best you can afford.

2. Strive for perfect eyebrows. You will need to discover the best technique to do this yourself (try this page on eyebrow shaping), or simply go to the beauty parlor and have someone do it for you.

3. Highlight your lashes with a lash curler and mascara. Lash curlers come as a standard or in a heated form for maximum curl but avoid leaving them on for too long or you may burn your lashes! Experiment for the best effect. As for mascara, it is the brush that is key for maximizing volume and length. If you have very short or sparse lashes, you may want to invest in semi permanent lashes for those special occasions, lash extensions or perhaps an eyelash growth product.

4. Wearing sunglasses that suit your face rather than those that are the most fashionable can do wonders for your looks. They will also stop you squinting!

5. Eat foods rich in Vitamin K as this has been shown to help reduce bruising and there are suggestions it may help with dark circles around the eyes. Eye creams typically include vitamin K and retinol that work together to help repair and strengthen the sensitive skin around the eyes.

6. Rest cucumbers or tea bags on your eyes for at least 20 minutes to give your eyes a refreshing lift and help banish any puffiness around the eyes.

7. Rose water is a good cheap option to help soothe tired eyes. Add a couple of drops to some very cold water and dip a cotton pad in it. Squeeze out the excess and place on your eyes for a few minutes. Repeat this three or four times.

8. Never keep rubbing your eyes. Not only does this make your yes red and sore, you can rub off your eyelashes! This may be fine if you are young as they regenerate faster, but as we age, the regeneration slows down a bit and the regrowth may not be as good.

9. Sleep on silk pillowcase or a silk scarf. Not only does silk feel wonderful on the skin, it is particularly effective at helping to prevent those fine lines around the eyes in the morning!

10. Always get a full night’s rest. This is probably one of the most fundamental things you can do for your whole body, but it is particularly important to rest to have crystal clear and sparkling eyes.

For many, there’s no better feature than beautiful eyes. Look after them so they can continue to look great and keep healthy.
