Eyelash Dye – Who Should Use It And How
Eyelash dye is a very useful product if you have light coloured eyelashes, however, it is not much use if you have dark hair as it simply colours the lashes. If you combine this with an eyelash growth product, then you can probably say goodbye to having to use mascara all the time. Although you can of course get this procedure done at the salon, as your eyelashes grow as fast as the hair on your head, you may find this gets expensive. Thankfully, this is one thing you can successfully do yourself at home provided you follow a few essential guidelines.
Eyelash dye usually comes in brown or black and your kit will contain all you need to complete the process. Please make sure you read the instructions very carefully and follow them. If you don’t you run the risk of making your eyes red and sore. Generally speaking, the process will involve a common set of procedures.
In the kit, you will obviously find a tube of dye, an application wand and a stirring stick for the solution, activating solution and a mixing tray. Some kits will include eye shields, if they don’t, pop some Vaseline around the eye as this will help safely wipe away any excess dye that doesn’t go where you intended!
Firstly you will need to squeeze out about 2 inches from the dye tube into the tray. Mix this with just a few drops of the activation solution, be careful not to make the mix too runny or it just will not stay on the wand, or your eyelashes. Stir this well.
Load the mascara wand and apply to the lashes, getting as close to the eye-line as possible. Don’t forget that you need to apply to the top side of the lashes as well as the underneath. Apply smoothly and evenly taking care to coat evenly with the eyelash dye.
OK, and then wait for 5 to 10 minutes for the dye to set. It may take longer but you will need to experiment with this. Then you need to wash the mix gently away and pat dry. Take care not to get the dye in your eyes.
Common manufacturers include Roux and Godefroy but there are of course others.
If you intend to use an eyelash growth serum such as Rapidlash, leave at least 48 hours between using the eyelash dye and the serum as they are applied in a similar way. If you use both processes, your lashes will look incredible without any mascara!
