How To Grow Longer Eyelashes

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

Have you ever wondered how to grow longer eyelashes but were unsure how to go about it? Hope we can help!

You’re not alone if you have ever asked someone how to get long eyelashes, especially if you are like me and have relatives and friends with gorgeous thick and long lashes I understand!!

The number one thing NOT to do is to pull them in any way shape or form. You should take special care when cleaning the makeup off your eyes and use a very gentle remover and very light strokes. Try and go make up free for at least once a week (yes, I know it can be hard!) and try and get hypo-allergenic make up such as the pure mineral make up.

If you curl your eyelashes this will make them appear longer. Applying eye liner close to the lashes in a slightly darker colour than the lashes and extending slightly out will also give the same illusion. You could also of course wear semi permanent false eyelashes.

The use of castor oil has also been suggested to help grow longer eyelashes; however, there is no scientific proof of this actually happening.

Lash extensions can be professionally applied to grow longer eyelashes and will look quite natural. These will need to be touched up two or three times a year and will cost you over a hundred dollars. If you have the money, and are brave enough, you can have eyelash transplants that are that effective you may even have to trim them!

The other way to grow longer eyelashes is of course to get some form of eyelash growth product. Some of these work incredibly well (I used Idol Lash, but LiLash also has a good reputation) but you do need to be careful how you use them and must follow the instructions carefully.

The good news is that you don’t have to live with short thin lashes as there are several ways in which you can either grow longer eyelashes or give the illusion with a few simple techniques.

Which Eyelash Growth Product Should I Use?

Wednesday, May 19th, 2010

If you are looking for an eyelash growth product, you will find there are several of these on the market today. So what should you look for and how much will it cost. Here, we are looking at specific products that are applied to the eye line and come in the form of a serum.

Making an eyelash grow is never going to be a quick fix, particularly if the reason for the loss is medical (e.g. thyroid problems) or bad habits such as continuously pulling the lashes. Also, although there are often a lot of natural ingredients, you are unlikely to find a completely natural eyelash growth product so be prepared for a compromise and your eyelash growth may surprise you as most claim that within 2 to 4 weeks you will see a marked difference.

So, how do you use these products? An eyelash growth product is usually found in the form of a serum with an applicator similar to that of eyeliner.  The product is applied at night, after cleansing by running the applicator as close to the lower and upper lash line as possible. When you extract the applicator from the container, there will be enough on it to do both sets of lashes on both eyes. As noted elsewhere, do not be tempted to use any more than is recommended as it won’t make any difference to the speed of eyelash growth. Do try not to get any in the eye and if you do, rinse the eye immediately. Obviously, if the eyelash growth product irritates the eye or causes any discomfort, whatever you have paid for it, do stop using it!

Moving on, what eyelash growth products of this nature are out there?  My favourite is Idol Lash – and the good news is that it comes with a FREE trial so you should at least give it a try. Follow this link to find a more comprehensive review of the tested eyelash growth products elsewhere on this site. Rapid Lash comes in with some pretty good reviews and can be found from $30 to $40 and possibly one of the more well known products comes from Lilash, expensive but does the job.
